Alice Cormier

Alice is a sporty girl who is also very good on skis. She likes speed and long downhills. She is always ready and determined to take up a challenge. She will definitely stand out as an undisputed leader during this expedition. Alice is always available to help; she is also a great asset when camping. She took part in Jeunes Karibus in 2014-2015. Alice is coming back into the program with great experience to help encourage her fellow participants and to continue to accomplish herself.

Ashley Koneak

Ashley is very discrete in the group, but for sure, she always has a wonderful smile on her lips. She likes to laugh a lot and to make people laugh as well. Ashley always puts in great efforts and she is a good athlete. She brings a nice joyful spirit to our team.

Daisy Gosselin


Daisy Gosselin

Daisy is a student at Jaanimmarik School and loves to play volleyball. She was my best friend a little while ago and she is the one who inspired me to go on this expedition. She’s very helpful when we go camping. She is a handful of happiness. Daisy is coming back for the second expedition because she doesn’t want to miss it. What don’t you want to miss? The fun, the people and the accomplishment.

Jessie Johannes


Jessie Johannes

Jessie Johannes is a secondary 4 student. She is 16 years old. She likes to walk around and to work. I think her favorite color is green. She is good at camping. She laughs a lot, she is fun to ski with and to go camping with. She has improved since the beginning of the year. She works hard to get ready for this big excursion. She is very serious about her training.

Joanna Cooper


Joanna Cooper

Joanna loves to learn about and to travel the world. She is very bright and likes to make jokes. She is passionate about reading and science. Whenever she sees a hill and that she needs to go down, she starts to laugh nervously, closes her eyes, prays for the best and goes! She was really motivated to go on the expedition last year but she could not attend because she was selected for the provincial science fair. She is now determined to make it all the way to Aupaluk no matter what. Joanna is a very quiet person and she is very caring about everybody. She likes to set goals for herself and to reach them.

Karina Gordon-Dorais


Karina Gordon-Dorais

She is 14 years old and she is in secondary 2. Karina likes to go hiking. She is a very fun person to be around and she always keeps a positive attitude. Karina likes to make people laugh. She likes to travel a lot. Her favorite place she traveled to is Hawaii. Her favorite color is army green. She is on the expedition because she likes going on adventures and for her, sky is the limit.

She's 14 years old and she is a secondary 2 student. She's a clumsy and sarcastic person. She likes being on her iPod, chilling on the couch and eating some munchies. She likes the outdoors but likes being indoors because she loves chilling. She falls a lot when skiing but she's always smiling. She's on the expedition because she likes skiing and she has never been on an expedition. And her dog’s name is Spencer LOL.

Marianne Perron


Marianne Perron

Marianne is a secondary 4 student. She’s a great friend; she’s always a message away. She’s a positive person, even on her lower days. She is taking care of a ski club after school for elementary boys and girls. She’s forever busy, but still somehow makes time for even more activities. She was inspired by last year’s expedition to join Jeunes Karibus this year. She will be a great member on the team to Aupaluk.

Matilda Gordon


Matilda Gordon

Matilda Gordon is 17 years old and this year was her first time on skis. Her positive attitude and perseverance have allowed her to make huge gains in technique. Being a volleyball player, Matilda has been able to transfer her fitness into skiing and she is often in the front of the group, opening up trails and being a good model for her teammates. Matilda likes exploring the land by ski and will jump on any opportunity to show off her ptarmigan hunting skills. Matilda chose the Jeunes Karibus option after being inspired by the previous year expedition. Her friend's achievement made her want to take part in this unique experience. To make sure she enjoys her adventure even more, Matilda decided to quit smoking. She is looking forward to the expedition and will be a great asset to the team.

Nathan Kettler

Nathan Kettler

Joshua Nathan Willie Kettler is 100% thug life. He is in secondary 2 in English. He likes to play volleyball, to ski and to go hunting. Every time we have activities or when we go camping, he is always there and he always wears camo. Nathan works hard at the Auberge. He ran 24km in one weekend. He went to New Zealand for a vacation and he preferred the North Island most. He wants to achieve this expedition because it really means a lot to him. Nathan is a very positive leader in the team.

Marie-Andrée Fortin


Marie-Andrée Fortin

Marie-Andrée was a member of the original Projet Karibu. She cross-country skied across the province of Quebec from Montreal to Kuujjuaq in 2014. After this accomplishment, she joined the JEUNES KARIBUS team. Marie-Andrée is a trained and adventure tourism guide. She is passionate about nature and the wild, but most importantly about the people she interacts with. Her support of the JEUNES KARIBUS project is considerable. As well as being a Sirius wilderness first aid trainer, her work with the athletes helps to develop in the field competencies like nutritional meal planning. She also provides important administrative help with our logistics, communications, and sponsorship arrangements.

Maxence Chavanne


Maxence Chavanne

Maxence is a good “step-teacher”, a good video maker and a good skier. He snores LOL. Maxence always tries to fix problems. I don’t know what he eats but he is fit. He takes care of everybody and always makes sure everyone is having a good time. He was involved in cross-country ski competition when he still lived in France. Maxence is fantastic to have on the team!

Valérie Raymond


Valérie Raymond

Valérie Raymond or "Mom" is a secondary 5 teacher. As one of the founders of JEUNES KARIBUS, she started this project to give her students a chance to explore the land while pushing their limits. We call her our "Mom" because she takes care of us and always makes sure we have everything. Valérie is a hard worker and loves sports and the outdoors. She is a very kind and attentive teacher who is popular with students and co-workers alike.
